EPIDEMIOLOGY DIVISION

Epidemiology division in NPHL is subdivided into 3 sections as followed: -

SURVEILLANCE SECTION

Headed by Public Health Specialist. The main component activities in surveillance this are

  • Compilation, analysis, monitoring and reporting of laboratory results on surveillance programme for stake holders
  • Providing laboratory support for diseases of public health concern
  • Providing technical advisory and training in epidemiology of laboratory related diseases
  • Participating in program and research activities under the Disease Control Division MOH

OUTBREAK AND PREPAREDNESS SECTION

Also headed by Public Health Specialist. The main component activities in this section are

  • Collaborating within the public health labs and other agencies outbreak investigation
  • Providing diagnostic and analytical analysis for outbreak investigation
  • Actively involves in Rapid Response Team for field outbreak investigation, sampling, analyzing and providing a collaborative inter agency report

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY UNIT

Headed by IT Officer. The main component activities in this section are

  • Providing platforms for data management and data sharing within public health labs
  • Providing platforms for communication and information sharing via MOH official email and local intranet portal
  • Establishing an electronic platform for diagnostic and outbreak results for the clients
  • Ensuring ICT infrastructure availability and readiness within the National Public Health Laboratory at satisfactory level
